FAQ

How long does it take to edit my wedding video?

Officially 8 weeks but we aim to be quicker than this!  With White Balloon Films you have not only two videographers but two editors also, so things tend to happen quite quickly.

How long is the final wedding video?

Approximately 90 – 120 minutes depending on the length of your ceremony and speeches.  Feedback from our happy couples has almost always been the same, i.e. the more footage the better.  Unless specifically instructed, we do not trim footage of the ceremony or the speeches.  We want you to have a comprehensive account of your day.  Being filmed with three cameras by two operators, our footage is not only comprehensive, but also interesting to watch.  It really is like you are seeing yourself in a film or a TV show thanks to the variety of angles and the manner in which we edit the footage.

How will I receive my wedding video?

We provide 3 copies of the full video on DVD, all presented in handmade cases.  The highlights video included in your package is available to download from the internet.  There are no restrictions on the DVDs so you are free to make as many copies as you wish.

What cameras do you use?

We use high-definition Canon DSLR cameras with Sigma lenses.  These cameras are used for television adverts and even some films because of the beautiful depth-of-field they can achieve that mimics what you and I are used to seeing when we go to the cinema.

Who edits your footage?

We look after every aspect of your wedding video from start to finish.  We use powerful, professional editing and colour grading software with our state-of-the-art Apple computers turn hours of footage into an entertaining and great to watch video.

What is colour grading?

Every frame of your video will be colour graded to give your video a beautiful, rich, Hollywood feel to it.  Without going into too much detail, there is more to this than just turning the contrast up!  The software we use is so powerful that we can control every single aspect of the image.  For example, on a dull day we can brighten the shot without washing out your skin tones.

Is your filming intrusive?

Where possible, we aim to be as invisible as possible.  The beauty of modern DSLR cameras is that they look like still cameras so they are easier to ignore than the older broadcasting style, shoulder camcorders.  In addition, with large sensors and wide aperture lenses, our cameras have fantastic low light filming abilities so there’s no need for additional lighting at your reception for example.

What other equipment do you have?

We love using our steadicam and glidecam!  If you know a shot looks professional but can’t work out why then it’s probably because it’s done with a steadicam or glidecam.  We love them so much we take them everywhere we go!

Are your wedding videos HD?

Yes.  This is the standard nowadays.  In fact, it would be hard to buy even a cheap video camera that wasn’t HD.

What kind of filming style do you have?

In our opinion, the most beautiful footage is almost always the natural footage taken when you do not know the camera is pointing at you, i.e. the genuine moments of tenderness, humour, excitement, nervousness etc.  As such, we aim to blend in as much as possible (often we are mistaken for guests!) in order to capture the natural moments throughout the day.  Coincidentally, this is almost always the style of video our couples ask of us.  That said, staged or posed shots can also be equally beautiful and if this is requested of us, we are well qualified instruct you accordingly for such a video shoot thanks to our depth of experience.

What is the video guestbook you include in Package B?

We love weddings so with your permission, we would love to speak to your guests and have them record a personal message for you.  We do this in the evening, typically around 9.30pm then edit the footage into a video guestbook that you can enjoy.

What will you wear?

We like to think we’re smart, presentable people so rest assured we will not appear dressed in track suit and trainers.

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Glasgow however we cover the whole of Scotland and the UK.  If you are really, really far away then we might have to think about a small travel surcharge but we certainly don’t sit there with our eyes on the speedo waiting to add mileage to the bill!
